Typical of the late Victorian era (1880–1901), this peridot and seed pearl sweetheart pendant is crafted from tested 15ct yellow gold and weighs a substantial 6.55g. It hangs from a contrasting 1.88g rose gold chain, bringing the necklace’s total weight to 8.43g.
The heart shape, floral cluster and bail design are very characteristic of this period, with 14ct gold brought in, in 1932.
The unmistakable, collet set, olive-green peridot was incredibly popular in the late Victorian and Edwardian Era, due to its association with the Suffragette movement. Green, white and violet represented "Give Women Votes", with seed pearls a classic accent utilised in the 19th century, hence this being late Victorian, as opposed to Edwardian.
The pendant measures approximately 35mm in length and 28mm in width, it is a very good sized and substantial pendant. The chain is 18" long and it has a large bail so you can wear this with any chain you wish.
The deep olive tones in the photo, give way to electric greens as the light hits, it is truly beautiful. It is priced at just £625 for a wonderful and beautiful piece of history and it will come in a heart shaped, light up box, perfect for gift giving 💚💚💚
